Can we know Him?

Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”
But he said to them,  “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”
Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.
Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’?
I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

 (John 4:31-35 NIV)

There are aspects about Jesus even his closest disciples did not understand.
He is gracious, patient, gentle and clear in revealing what he wanted them to know.

They walked and lived with him every day….. How much less do we understand Him?  He will (and does) show us what he wants us to know as well….. just ask Him and see.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

(James 1:5-7 NIV)

Are there things in your life that hold you back from living totally free?  If so, it does not have to be that way…  Believe me I know.

You are more than Animated Mud….. You have a purpose…. Discover your life and be amazed at what living is all about.  He (Jesus) knocks, but you have to let Him in.

Thoughts, comments or questions?

In the beginning.

Did you know that the bible can pretty much be summed up in the first 5 words of Genesis 1:1? “In the beginning God created.”

Pause for just a moment and think of what that implies…  If God does exist and rules over all creation, He could be as simple or complex as He chooses to be in revealing Himself.

It seems ironic that God would use the first five words of the most widely read book (of all time), to simply say, who He is and what He did… no convoluted formulas and lengthy explanations.  no excuses for not being smart enough to know…  Anyway, If He were to show us how He created (matter) from nothing, would anyone really understand?

The smartest minds on this planet can’t even explain how something spontaneously (without a creator) appeared from nothing, and evolved into what we have today.  Sure, we can account for and examine stuff that we see, but what about before?

It may be possible that you have asked questions at some point in your life, regarding your own existence of, where did I come from and/or what existed before all that we know?

It’s perfectly natural to ask… and the answers are out there….You just have to decide what and why you believe what you find.

Regardless of your conclusion, it takes great faith to believe whatever is revealed.  Nothing can be proven, unless you believe the evidence of the presenter…

The only one who can transcend our limitations of reason, logic and intelligence is someone not bound (or limited) by what we understand to be true. That happens to be God, and He will need to reveal Himself to us….  We can’t force His appearance, anymore than we can make a puppet walk without its strings.

If you are interested in finding Him, here is a scripture from the bible that explains simply how He can be found.

(Deuteronomy 4:29 NIV)

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Now, lets just take it at face value and ask… If this passage is true, and He is not found (or revealed)… is it His fault?  Or is it just easier to say He does not exist?

He does exist and would be well worth your time to see…. Sure, it may still be faith, but all matters have to be settled with some level of assurance.

What is the foundation of your belief,  and does it bring you peace of mind?

There is so much more to the story, but the first 5 words sets the tone… don’t you think?

You make me so mad!

Really, I make you mad???

mad scientist drawn by User:J.J

It’s a simple and very common phrase, but holds profound implications for our future peace of mind.

Is it possible for one person to force another person to feel a certain way without an express or implied approval… on your part?

How often have you heard (or said), “you make me so mad!“?
If we really have that kind of power over each other, then I want to run a simple test….

Everyone reading this, send me $100.00 right now… Go ahead and write the check and mail it…. Hmmm, seems I can’t force you to send me your hard earned money, how could I make you to change your hard earned thoughts?

It may be that, some people ignore their responsibilities (to be accountable) for their own thoughts, feelings and actions… only to put them on other people by saying “you make me…”  Honestly, do you really believe other people can MAKE you mad?

Sure, sometimes people can do some really stupid stuff, but its not yours to deal with… unless you choose it to be…. then yes, other people can make you mad.

The downfall is, you have now given them power over you.  Unless they show up with a picture ID proving they are God… You should not be giving any power (to anyone) over yourself.

It’s just a matter of only letting quality product (information) into your soul.  When I eat good food, I feel better.  When I think good thoughts, the same thing happens.

Proverbs 23:7 (says in part) “For as he thinks within himself, so he is.”

We have the option to choose what we let in…. just make sure it’s good stuff.

So, the next time you feel compelled to say “You make me so mad!”, take a deep breath, relax and think…. what are you allowing into your life to change your thoughts or feelings.

Mmm yeah, Its hard work, but worth it.

The Breath of Life.

Whether we were created, evolved, or came from aliens… science has proven our bodies are made up of the same basic elements of this earth.
The simple description is, Water + Earth = Mud.

That’s a pretty unsophisticated representation regarding the complexity of our carcasses, but for the sake of this post lets just agree we are all a bunch of animated mud cakes.

What I’m really interested to discuss is the soul or spirit part of our lives.  What is it really, and where does it come from? Also, what happens to it when we die?

There is plenty of data about the biology of elements and organisms inside the body, but not much about the life force or soul and spirit that sustains us all.

Wikipedia has information on the spirit, but the best reference (i’ve found) about the our invisible soul and spirit is contained in the Bible.  It even says God has a soul and spirit.  (Matthew 12:18 ASV)
Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; My beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit upon him, And he shall declare judgment to the Gentiles.

According to the Strong’s Greek Dictionary, the transliteration for the word soul is psuché where we get psyche from.  Here is the link for the full soul description

The word Spirit is described as pneuma, which translated is Breath or Wind, here is the link to the full spirit description, if you wish to read further.

Now, it’s possible some of you don’t believe in God, and that is not what this particular post is about.  I would hope that if you have a view about our life force, soul, psyche or spirit…  that you would feel comfortable to share…  You won’t be bashed or ridiculed, in fact you will be welcomed.

I’m absolutely gracious and open minded to other people’s views and would hope you are as well, that we may inspire discussion in the same light.

My openness comes from a time I posted a (legitimate) question about the beginning of life, and only one person out of ten that answered it, did so with unbiased information.  The others spewed forth ridicule, contempt and disdain for my view.  I didn’t even state “my view;” but they assumed it in a negative fashion based on my question.  So, If you just happen to hold a different viewpoint, please feel welcome to participate.

Wikipedia has detailed definitions of our thoughts from some very smart people.   Now, we do know they exist even though we can’t see them.

We also can’t see our feelings and emotions, but know they exist too.  Have you ever tried to reveal a vivid dream you had, and could not find any words to adequately articulate what you experienced? Sometimes we see strange and stunning details that just can’t be described.

C.S. Lewis commented about our invisible qualities, he states, “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.”

Just because it can’t be proven or explained does not mean it doesn’t exist…
There most certainly is more to the Breath of life within us than can be found in a Petri dish.
